Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
