The star has donated the entirety of his £25k honor cash to the trust for venues, which works to protect the Britain's small music venues.

The star was awarded the prize on mid-October as his new release his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role local spots played in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, top acts like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also took part, raising over £100k on his live tour to help numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges caused by floods, blazes and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces received funding support in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and fans.

"The idea that money from performances in big venues supports the independent spots, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.
